Victorian thoroughbred and Ciaron Maher-trained gelding, Moudre, chases $100,000 stakes if he can win Zipping Classic on Saturday at Sportingbet Park in Sandown Hill. This is after Melbourne Racing Club attached the bonus for any horse that ran in the Caulfield Cup and the won the Zipping Classic race, according to a report from Racing Network.
Moudre is number 25 in the order of entry into the Melbourne cup when it kicked off last week and it finished 14th in the Caulfield Cup. He also finished 8th in the Queen Elizabeth Stakes on Saturday behind Puissance De Lune. While it hasn't won a race since the start of this year's Melbourne Cup, the $100,000 stakes may just be awarded to him.
There are only two horses that meet the criteria among 14 nominations. The other one is My Quest For Peace, which finished fifth behind Dunaden in Caulfield Cup. While it is eligible to receive the bonus tied to the Zipping Classic, he might just miss the race as he is preparing for next month's Hong Kong Vase at Sha Tin.
Nominations for Zipping Classic with stakes of $350,000 ended on Tuesday, November 13th.
