
Police reported on Monday that a body was found in Oxley Creek, south of Brisbane at around 7:00 in the morning. Witnesses told the police the man was a motorcyclist who was swept away by the flood Sunday night at Greenbank.
People reportedly tried to save him by throwing a rope but the supposed rescue was unsuccessful. Instead, the man was washed downstream never to be seen alive again.
According to reports from the police, this is the third victim of the Queensland flood. The first victim was found near Bundaberg and was an 81-year-old man. The second victim was a 27-year-old who body was pulled from the water near Gympie.
Meanwhile, the Prime Minister, Julia Gillard, expressed her sympathy over the flooding and promised to send federal calamity support for people who were greatly affected. According to her, Australia is being challenged by nature.
